I'm a User Interface Architect who moved to Vancouver from Boston about 5 1/2 years ago. I'm a big fan of this city and its potential to maintain a vibrant economy while also keeping our quality of life among the best in the world.
How and/or where did you first hear out about this Meetup group?

What was it that got you interested in sustainability?
I've always been interested in it. I like technologies that both improve the quality of life, and at the same time don't deplete the environment.
How are you engaging in sustainable living at work and at home?
We drive very little and take electric-based public transit wherever possible. Despite living in a condo, we grow herbs and walk to get our food, which is primarily fresh, local veggies, fish and poultry from the Granville Island Public Market.
What do you see as the biggest challenges facing our community with regard to creating a sustainable future?
Cities are designed for cars and food transport systems that depend on cheap oil. When the price of oil starts to rise, it wreaks havoc with the economy. Until we can de-link fossil fuels from our lives, we face a chaotic future marked by suffering.
